Following on from Mike's
post on Friday, there were at least two nightjars churring at northern end of
Cors Fochno - one in the area Mike mentioned and one close to the main road
(same location as previous years). Male and female birds seen close to the main
pond, not far beyond the little car park. On Sunday evening I checked the
eastern side of the bog, walking along the newly gravelled coast path from
Taliesin. At the end of the main block of willow carr, there was at least one
bird churring intermittently from birch/bog myrtle/heather area at the edge of
the bog. Also the pig-like call. Good numbers of cuckoo generally - at least
two in the northern part of the bog and two, potentially three on the eastern
edge. Up to 10 swifts in Taliesin. Several garden warbler singing near the
village as well.
